Hydrangea Shopping
I love shopping for hydrangeas, especially in the spring and fall. I always check my local nurseries first. They will usually have a selection of lager size plants than if you were to order online. They will also most likely carry varieties that will thrive in your specific climate, and their staffs are generally very knowledgeable. If I can’t find what I’m looking for in my local nursery, I’ll then check the “big box” stores. They generally have better pricing but the quality of the shrubs can sometimes be lacking, as well as a lack of horticultural knowledge in the staff running the stores nursery department. Whatever I can’t find locally, I will source online. Fortunately there are some really great online retailers that take a lot of care in the shipping and health of their plants. I recommend always going to the source, and shopping directly from the Growers website first i.e. Proven Winners, Endless Summer etc. Note, some of these growers will ship you directly and some will ship to a local nursery for pick up from the here’s a list of my favorite online and local retailers.
